Your contract is with Araus World LTD, registered in Mexico, number ******. The following conditions will apply to your booking and form part of your contract. A binding contract is only entered into when we issue a confirmation invoice. All correspondence will be sent to the lead passenger of the booking unless otherwise advised. It is essential that you check the travel details on the confirmation invoice and inform us immediately of any errors. Please note, the information appearing in the section headed “Frequently Asked Questions” in our website and any other relevant information on our website also form part of your contract with us.
You must be at least 18 years of age to make a booking for you or other partricipants. You must provide the exact full names of the participants intending to travel as they appear in their relevant passports. By booking on behalf of others, you are deemed the designated contact person for every participant, and must keep your party informed. You are responsible for verifying all information provided is accurate and complete for all traveling participants, Araus World is under no circumstances liable for any errors in the information provided to complete a booking.
Your deposit is considered part payment towards your experience. We require a deposit for any experience booked, usually 20% of the total experience price. The exact deposit required shall be made clear at the time of quotation/booking. On occasion full payments may be required to secure certain elements of your trip, if this does arise we shall inform you of this at time of booking. We do not begin to book until we receive the deposit because of the time and expense involved in making these arrangements in South America. Deposits are non refundable and as such a security towards confirming your experience with Araus World.
The balance is required 8 weeks before you travel. Payment is due immediately upon confirmation of bookings made within this period. Payments by VISA/Mastercard credit card are subject to a 1.98% surcharge and payment by AMEX 2.5% surcharge. There is no charge for debit card payments. If payment is not made by the due date, we are entitled to treat this as a cancellation on your behalf and retain the deposit. We will of course try to contact you first.
It is your responsibility to ensure that all necessary travel documents, visas, vaccinations, and other health documentation are in order prior to travel. You must have a passport that is valid for 6 months after the last date of travel as set out with your Araus World itinerary. You accept full responsibility of obtaining all such documents, visas, and permits prior to the start of your experience, and you are solely responsible for the full amount of costs incurred as a result of missing or incorrect documentation. Failure to do so may incur amendment charges which are your responsibility.
Your Araus World experience does NOT include travel insurance. We do however require that you have adequate travel insurance to cover medical and accident coverage before your experience with Araus World commences. We also strongly recommend that you extend your travel insurance to include, cancellation, curtailment, and all other expenses that arise as a result of loss, damage, injury, delay or inconvenience while traveling. It is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate insurance provision to cover the cost of assistance, including emergency repatriation, in the event of illness or other problems occurring during your experience with Araus World.
Araus World experiences do not include any international airfare to Ecuador, these are fully the responsibility of the traveller(s) to arrange. We have no control over international or domestic air carriers, and therefore schedules may change or flights be delayed, due to no fault of our own. We will try to ensure smooth flow of all your transport connections, but it is your responsibility to check exact times of flights and reconfirm these. Araus World accepts no responsibility for the consequences of flights missed due to the traveller(s) failure to reconfirm.
If you wish to make alterations to your experience arrangements before departure, we will do our best to assist. If alterations can be made you will be responsible for all extra charges and cost, we also reserve the right to charge an administration fee per person plus any applicable changes levied by one of our partners.
All cancellations must be made in writing by the person who made the booking and are effective on the day we receive the request. Cancellation requests must be made 60 days prior to departure, requests received after this time will vary in success depending on how far in advance we are notified of cancellation.
After a confirmation invoice has been sent, Araus World makes every effort to operate all experiences as advertised. However, we plan experiences a long time in advance of your travel arrangements, using independent suppliers, such as accommodation providers, local transport operators and tour guides, over whom we have no direct control over. In very rare occurrences Araus World may have to modify your experience. Most of these changes are minor, however if we consider them a significant change we will notify you as soon as reasonably possible. It is rare, and although we never hope we have to cancel your experience with Araus World this does very occasionally happen and we reserve the right to do so. Unless a case of Force Majeure or when full payment is not received, we will not cancel your experience with Araus World less then 28 days before departure. In the event of a cancellation, we will endeavour to offer alternative travel arrangements of comparable standards, or alternatively a full and prompt refund.
Our Araus World experiences are recommended for anyone aged 18 to 65 years old, we even occasionally take minors when accompanied by an adult. The minimum age for any minor travelling with Araus World is 12 years old and any minors must be accompanied by an adult. One adult may accompany 2 minors. Each adult on a experience with a minor or minor(s) is jointly responsible for their behaviour and wellbeing. Araus World does not provide any chaperoning services for minors.
Most Araus World experiences, require a reasonable level of fitness, as most experiences will have some walking. Some of our experiences that cover the Andes region require high altitude trekking, which combined with other activities can be strenuous to the body. Shortness of breath is common and we advise you to take things at a calm pace during your first day at high altitude. If you or any participant(s) you are booking for suffer from any disability or condition and are concerned that the enjoyment of the experience will be affected, please let us know, so we may advise you what is best.
Travellers are responsible for ensuring that all immigration and health requirements are fulfilled, for obtaining their flights to Ecuador, including passports, visas and vaccination certificates.
It is your responsibility to act in a responsible, controlled and sober manner when dealing with any local authorities, fellow travellers, as well as our staff and representatives. By choosing to travel with Araus World, you agree to accept the authority and decisions of our dedicated staff. If in the opinion of such representatives of Araus World, your behaviour or health before the departure of an experience, is likely to jeopardise the well-being, comfort, or progress of that experience, then you may be excluded from the experience without refund or compensation. It is your responsibility to respect the local laws, otherwise you may be excluded from continuing your experience with Araus World and we will stop to have any responsibility towards you.
We take care to ensure that all involved in the preparation and supply of your experience with Araus World maintain the highest of standards at all times. We continuously seek to find the finest establishments chosen for their ambience and location as well as their sustainable tourism efforts. We accept responsibility for death, injury or illness caused by the negligent acts and/or omissions of our employees or agents together with our suppliers whilst acting delivery of your experience. We will pay reasonable compensation, if your experience is not of the standard advertised.
Please note that when you book an excursion locally, your contract is formed with the local company providing the service and not Araus World. We therefore have no legal liability should anything go wrong on such an excursion or activity. We cannot guarantee that any optional activity or experience advertised in our brochures and website will be available to book during your experience. These services are not operated by Araus World and so we cannot be held liable if they do not operate as advertised.
Araus World reserves the right to take video and photography during the course of any of our experiences and use it for promotional purposes. By booking an experience with Araus World you and any participants you are booking for agree to allow your images to be used in photographs and video without any compensation payable to you for any marketing material purpose Araus World sees fit. Any travellers who prefer their images are not used are asked to identify themselves at the time of booking.

The copyright on all material in our brochures and on our website, including text, imagery, and maps is held by Araus World. No part of these publications may be reproduced, stored, or transmitted in any way without the prior written permission of Araus World.
We reserve the right to make any changes to the prices of any experiences published in our brochures or on our website. You will be advised of the current price of your experience at the time of booking.
All our experiences require a deposit, normally 20% of the experience cost. The balance of the price of your travel arrangements must be paid by the date indicated in your confirmation sent by your dedicated travel specialist. If the deposit and/or the balance is not paid in time, we shall cancel your travel arrangements and retain your deposit.
